Just discovered my condition. Ravitch advice anybody?

Only last night I discovered P.E. I really had no idea before-hand that it was a recognised condition, let alone that it was possible to have surgery to correct it.

ok, so im a 17 year old guy im pretty cool with the fact that i have PE. It used to look a lot worse but i lost about 20 pounds, and im thinking if i lose some more weight it will look even better! Ive been weight lifting for a bout a year now, and it doesnt seem to bother me too much. I have PE and I lived with this pretty good till recent time.
Suddenly I strated to have shortness of breath, chest pressure.
I did a test and found out that I have got an hiatal hernia and because of my chest there is not enought space for my stomach in the chest.
So minor thing turned out to be a major health problem.
As usually doctors were useless.
For a 9 years I was fighting my hiatal hernia.
But the problem was in my chest PE.
My breast bone presses and inflames...

I'm a 45 year old Coast Guardsmen with asymmetric PE. After trying for a year to get Tricare to pre-approve PE surgery to no avail I gave up. Their reason was that they will do no surgery unless it's "life threatening". Hello. I am 15 years old. I have never known there was a name for my condition until I finally looked it up.

I'm interested in the surgery...for anyone who's had it: Did it hurt? Was it worth it? Do you have a large scar? Were there any complications with the surgery?
