hi everyone,
i'm new to this board and need some advice.
i am 24 years old and 4 years ago i had an implant inserted at the RVI hospital in Newcastle to fill in the quite deep pe i have in my chest. this went very well and the suregons and myself were very pleased with the results. at the time this was the only way i knew it could be fixed.
since i have got the interent i am amazed at the anount of info i have learnt about this condition and how many other people have it.
after seeing on the internet that pe can be completley corrected and not just 'covered up' - i really want this done. last week i made an appointment to see a surgeon on the NHS about having surgery, the only way he knew to correct was the ravitch, but he wasn't very up to date on the procedures etc.
i had read that surgeons at Sheffield hospital perform both Nuss and Ravitch procedures in adults and i suggested being referred there. i asked to be referred privatley, hopefully this should be in nest few weeks, as i got the impression on the NHS it would take a while - and i am desperate to get this fixed!
does anyone have any opinion on which procedure is better - Nuss or ravitch?? both have their pros and cons so really not sure which is should be trying for.
any help would be much appreciated
